Manchester United and David de Gea have been embroiled in one of the transfer sagas of the summer. It all looked as though it was going to come to an end late last night as Real Madrid and United agreed a fee for the Spaniard, but the deal didn’t go through in time.
Real Madrid released a statement earlier suggesting that the deal didn’t go through down to United not completing their part of the paperwork in time.
However a few hours later and Manchester United have responded saying it was Real Madrid’s fault. They say that Real Madrid did not upload David de Gea’s documents in time, and also didn’t upload De Gea’s documentation to the Spanish FA before the deadline – they actually arrived 28 minutes after the deadline – meaning the deal could not be completed.
