Manchester United have had a busy summer, recruiting Jose Mourinho as their new manager, and making several high profile signings to help take the club right back to the top. That process will continue long into the season, and right through to next summer when the window opens again.
Despite no transfer being able to take place until January now, that hasn’t stopped the gossip flowing as the club looks to continue to build as the campaign progresses.
The first bit of news we’ve got isn’t great. The Manchester derby takes place this weekend, and ahead of that game, Jose Mourinho has plenty of selection dilemmas on his hands due to injuries.
The Daily Express say that United have an injury crisis on their hands ahead of the game, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia all fitness doubts ahead of the Saturday 12:30 kick-off.
On top of that, it looks as though Jose Mourinho wanted to bring in more than one defender over the summer. According to reports coming out of France, the self-proclaimed Special One wanted to be reunited with Raphael Varane of Real Madrid, but the world class 23-year-old decided to turn his former coach down in order to stay in Spain.
Finally, we’ve news of a potential outgoing. The guys over at Tribal Football reckon that out-of-favour Bastian Schweinsteiger is being targeted by a trio of MLS clubs in an attempt to lure the World Cup winner out to the United States.
Personally, I reckon this would be a good move for him. It means he’ll be playing regularly which is obviously the most important thing, and that’s where his new wife is based, so that can only help.
