Manchester United had scouts present for Nice’s Europa League game against Lokomotiv Moscow on Thursday, according to RMC, translated by The Metro.
The scouts were there to watch Jean-Michael Seri, a 26-year-old central midfielder who’s thoroughly impressing in Ligue 1 this term.
Apparently, although United had officials there, the Red Devils will seemingly face competition from Chelsea if they decide to make a move, as they also had scouts present during the game that took place yesterday.
It comes as no secret that United’s midfield needs a complete overhaul. Marouane Fellaini is yet to sign a new deal, while Michael Carrick is retiring at the end of the season. Bringing in Seri would be an excellent start.
For me, someone mobile like Seri would be perfect. It’d allow Mourinho to switch to the 4-3-3 formation which has brought him so much success in his managerial career so far, allowing Paul Pogba to flourish in an advanced midfield role.
Competition is going to be fierce to sign him though, with Seri almost completing a move to FC Barcelona in the summer, with Tottenham Hotspur, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus all keeping tabs on the Ivorian.
