Manchester United all set to allow superstar to leave the club on a free transfer: report

Thirteen years ago, Manchester United signed Wayne Rooney from Everton in a bumper deal. Now, after winning it all, it looks as though the 31-year-old forward is about to seal a move back to Merseyside. The Daily Mail add that the Red Devils are going to waive any transfer fee, and let him go for free.

The report claims that Rooney’s agent, Paul Stretford, was spotted at the offices of Everton’s Chairman Bill Kenwright, and the pair were thought to be thrashing out a deal for the Manchester United legend.

To add to that, Everton were prepared to spent around £10million on Wayne Rooney, however, United have let him leave for free due to his weekly wages, which currently stand at around £230,000-a-week.

It will be sad to see him go because he has given his absolute all for the famous red jersey of Manchester United, but the time is definitely right.

Last season, he didn’t play anywhere near as much as he’d have liked. When he did take to the field, I’d be surprised if Jose Mourinho was pleased with his performances, because he just looked lethargic and way past his best.

I’m hoping that a move back to the club he supported as a young boy will reignite that fire in his belly and his desire and love for the beautiful game will return. Just not when he plays against Manchester United, of course!
