Manchester United are set to release goalkeeper Theo Richardson when the season ends.
That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who adds that the Red Devils could let as many as five goalkeepers depart this summer.
The 19-year-old Richardson has apparently been playing in trial matches, as he gets set to leave after making just two appearances for the U23 side this term.
Talented Richardson made the move to Old Trafford from Leeds, but it was always going to be tough for him to make his impact as there is some immensely talented players in front of him in the pecking order…
The other names on the chopping block include Max Johnstone, the younger brother of Sam who is currently on loan at Aston Villa, who himself could leave the club after failing to break in.
Then you have Dean Henderson; another brilliantly talented shot-stopper. But, he’s behind Joel Pereira in the pecking order, so don’t be surprised if Henderson leaves.
Kieran O’Hara is another goalie who may well have to depart if he wants regular playing time. That leaves the aforementioned Pereira, Sergio Romero and David de Gea; with fans praying that the latter will be here for a while yet.
