Manchester United set to rest three key faces ahead of Leicester City clash

Manchester United Football Club have had a horrific week in terms of results and performances, and Jose Mourinho now has to turn his focus to the newly-renamed EFL Cup. Ahead of the game away at Northampton Town, we’ve been given some early team news.

According to Samuel Luckhurst of The Mirror, Jose Mourinho is to rest the key trio of David de Gea, Eric Bailly and Paul Pogba – allowing them to prepare for the home game against Leicester City this Saturday lunchtime.

Since his arrival Paul Pogba hasn’t missed a minute of first-team football, and although he has looked poor, perhaps him missing this one isn’t the worst idea.

The same goes for Eric Bailly who has been an absolute tank at the heart of defence (despite an error at the weekend). The Ivorian probably won’t be used to playing so often, so it would make sense to give him the day off.

Mourinho will obviously want to see Sergio Romero in action, and this is a good game for him to play in and show Jose Mourinho just how capable he is.
