Manchester United have signed 17-year-old goalkeeper Matej Kovar, according to Sky Sports News.
The young man has signed a professional deal at the Theatre of Dreams, after the club acquired Kovar from FC Slovacko following a week of training with the United academy.
Kovar had been eyed by West Ham United, too, but Nicky Butt clearly acted fast to snap up the young man before The Hammers could make their move.
With all young players it’s tough to gauge just how far they can go in the game, but under Kieran McKenna, there is absolutely no doubt that Kovar will improve as a player, and the Red Devils will give him every chance to succeed.
United have a whole host of talented goalkeepers on their books, and that’ll give Kovar the opportunity to learn from the best in the business David de Gea, while also having Sergio Romero and Joel Pereira to look up to as well.
Both Butt and McKenna are doing a cracking job in the academy at present and if they think Kovar is good enough for us in the long-term, it may be worth keeping tabs on this talented teenager.
