Manchester United Football Club have been struggling recently, with Jose Mourinho’s men putting in poor performance after poor performance; particularly in the Premier League.
With two draws in the last two, the pressure is once again building on the self-proclaimed Special One. From sitting in the terraces week-in-week-out, I know that a large portion of the fans are already calling for Mourinho’s job, but it looks as though he’s safe; for now…
That’s according to his agent Jorge Mendes, who has released a public statement on the matter, confirming that both his client, and the club, are ‘happy’ with the situation at the moment.
“There have been more rumours of Jose Mourinho leaving Manchester United. It’s totally untrue.” Mendes is quoted as saying by The Times’ Paul Hirst. “José is very happy at the club and the club is very happy with him. He has a long-term contract with Manchester United and is fully committed to the club in building a solid winning project”
Honestly, I think this is just a PR trick from Mendes to try and appease the fan furore. Anyone with a brain knows that the club is in a real mess right now, in fact, I’d argue that it is currently the worst it ever has been since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club.
It’s all well and good giving this spiel about building a winning project, but why not show it on the field? Mourinho is in his third year at the club, we look no closer to success than what we did when he took over in 2016.
In fact, I’d suggest were going backwards rather than forwards, and given the ludicrous amount of money spent, that has to be a massive concern. Sorry, but personally, I think we need a change in direction, and it all stems from the boss.
