Jose Mourinho is set to have another injury problem on his hands if reports from The Sun are to be believed.
Ander Herrera is a huge doubt to take on Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup this weekend and apparently, the Basque-born midfielder could be out for weeks with a thigh injury.
The 28-year-old missed Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to Newcastle over the weekend, and this latest injury blow gives Mourinho a major headache, with the Red Devils looking extremely thin on the ground in terms of fit midfielders.
Herrera is a player who brings something different to the table with his energetic style of play, and having him unavailable means that we’re likely to see more of the two-man midfield that just doesn’t seem to be working at the moment.
Honestly, this couldn’t have come at a worse time. Sitting sixteen points behind in the title race means that the FA Cup and Champions League is United’s best chance for silverware and Mourinho needs all the options he can muster.
If Herrera is out for any prolonged period, it could mean a serious lack of rotation for both Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic, and that, in turn, could quickly lead to tiredness and fatigue.
