Manchester United’s January transfer window was an extremely quiet one in terms of incoming players, with Jose Mourinho choosing to thin the squad out – by selling both Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay without bringing any new faces in to replace them.
However, you’d imagine that the summer period will be very different, and transfer rumours are already rearing their ugly heads. The latest comes from Transfer Market Web, who say that Manchester United have ‘thoroughly scouted’ Torino’s Andrea Bellotti – a 23-year-old forward having an excellent season.
The striker has been particularly impressive in the league this term, finding the back of the net seventeen times in 21 games.
That said, if Manchester United were to back up this interest with a bid in the summer, they’d face stiff competition from both Chelsea and Arsenal, who are also keeping tabs on the Italian.
This begs the question, do Manchester United need another striker right now? Personally, I don’t think so unless Zlatan Ibrahimovic intends on leaving the club when the summer comes around. The 35-year-old has backup from both Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, which is more than enough in my opinion.
