Manchester United struggling to tie superstar down to new deal, no closer to agreement: report

Manchester United Football Club have several players who are out-of-contract next summer, with Jose Mourinho doing his utmost to tie as many down to new deals as possible.

Perhaps the biggest priority is David de Gea. The superstar Spaniard has saved our bacon on many occasions, and he really is worth ten points a season. However, according to the usually reliable Telegraph, the club are no nearer to agreeing upon new terms with our #1.

There was some positive news, however, as Ashley Young, Ander Herrera and Juan Mata are all in discussions with the club about potentially extending their Old Trafford stay.

Understandably, De Gea is reluctant to commit to United as the club are struggling so badly on the field. That means if he so chooses, in the summer of 2020, the Spaniard could walk away for free…

If he doesn’t sign before next summer, that would be United’s last chance to sell De Gea on for value, so potentially, this could well be his final year at the Theatre of Dreams.

Honestly, with the amount of money that we’ve been throwing at players like Alexis Sanchez, just pay De Gea whatever he wants and get the deal done. There is absolutely no replacing him, so even if it means paying him £300,000-a-week, so be it…
