Manchester United superstar Anthony Martial has been slapped with a £180,000 fine, after going AWOL following the Red Devils’ victory over Real Madrid.
That’s what Football365 are reporting, following Martial going absent during pre-season tour. The former AS Monaco man flew home following the birth of his son, but just never returned. Now, who knows where he is and what is going on?
I think it’s pretty common knowledge that the 22-year-old has been unhappy over the last six months or so, namely after Alexis Sanchez’s arrival at the club. The fact that he doesn’t want to stay and fight for his place doesn’t really fill me with confidence in him, and that’s a major concern going forward.
Right now, the writing is on the wall. At this point I’d be surprised if Martial stays at Old Trafford. Why should Mourinho want to fight to keep a player who doesn’t want to be here? Sir Alex Ferguson would tell him to take the high road, why should the self-proclaimed Special One be any different?
That’s not to say he’s not a brilliantly talented footballer, he obviously is. Sometimes, though, when a player loses their mentality and confidence, it’s hard to get back feeling positive while the same situation is going on. Right now, I’m praying Juventus stump up the cash to sign him.
