Manchester United Football Club had no fewer than twelve internationals taking part at the World Cup, as the Red Devils’ players performed admirably during their time out in Russia.
However, a new season brings new personnel and ideas. It was an excellent pre-season for Andreas Pereira. He also started the opening Premier League game against Leicester City at Old Trafford on Friday. He’s already been rewarded for his efforts.
The 22-year-old has earned his first international call-up for Brazil, the Manchester Evening News report.
I’m absolutely delighted for Pereira. The last two seasons must have been hard for him. Spending time out on loan is never easy, as you’re constantly chomping at the bit as you want to be making that impact at your parent club.
Credit to the player, though. It was his decision to leave on a short-term deal. You have to say it has certainly paid off thus far, and now he has an opportunity to prove his worth on the international stage.
Now, it’s down to Pereira to keep Nemanja Matic out of the team. Trust me, that’s not going to be easy, particularly given how much Mourinho loves the man from Serbia. It’s going to be an intriguing battle.
