Manchester United host Watford at Old Trafford this coming Saturday, with Jose Mourinho’s men desperate to back up the 3-0 victory away at Leicester – and keep the pressure on their rivals. However, we could’ve just been dealt a little bit of a blow on the injury front…
According to the Hertfordshire Mercury, Manchester United could be without a key defensive duo; both Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo. The centre-back pairing have been crucial in the Red Devils’ form recently and coped brilliantly whilst Eric Bailly was with the Ivory Coast at the African Cup of Nations.
This is a real shame if true, and although both of the guys haven’t been ruled out completely, Manchester United are obviously sweating on their fitness. Phil Jones missed the trip to Leicester at the weekend with a bruised foot, with Marcos Rojo being subbed off at half-time in the same game.
If neither of the pair can get themselves ready and available, it’ll likely be Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly at the back, which is obviously another solid partnership to have. The problem would arise if one of the two starting guys get injured before the game or during it, because then Manchester United would be extremely short on options.
