Just when you thought the transfer rumours couldn’t get any worse, we get linked with a move for none other than Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero. That’s according to the Sun on Sunday, who say that Manchester United are plotting a shock £55million move to lure the Argentina international to Old Trafford.
The report states that Aguero, 28, is being targeted as a replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who’s playing days at the Theatre of Dreams look to be over after suffering ligament damage last month.
Aguero is apparently second choice to Gabriel Jesus at The Etihad (which is bizarre in itself), but it is understood that the striker wants to stay in Manchester.
Would I take him? Absolutely, he is deadly on his day and can turn in performances that are right up there with some of the best in the world. However, there would be a huge concern about his injury record, which isn’t the best… On top of that, I’m sure that some fans wouldn’t be overjoyed with the possibility of him moving to United, particularly after he cruelly stole a title away from us back in 2012.
I just don’t see this one happening. Would Manchester City really be dumb enough to sell us one of their best players? There is absolutely no chance they’d sell probably their biggest ever legend to a cross-city rival. So let’s just forget about this one, shall we?
