No transfer window at Manchester United is complete without the inevitable link to Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder, and once again, we’re linked with a move for the Galatasaray man. Sneijder, now 30, is apparently ready to leave Turkey and make a move to England.
The Daily Star reckon that Louis van Gaal is keeping tabs on his Netherlands compatriot, with a view to making a bid for the former Inter Milan star. However for me, this transfer story just doesn’t add up.
He’s past his best now, and the move to Turkey pretty much confirms that. If he was still applying himself at the top level then he’d be playing for one of the top teams in world football – which he isn’t.
United have been linked with this man for the last five years in what seems like every transfer window, and Louis van Gaal’s Dutch links to Sneijder just gives the media more ammo to once again bring this story back up.
If the club really wanted to sign Sneijder, I’m fairly certain they would’ve done it a few years ago when he was at the peak of his powers, and I highly doubt that this move will happen now.
