Earlier today, it was reported by Sky Sports News that Manchester United had failed in their attempt to land Alvaro Morata. The Red Devils saw their £52.4million bid rejected by Real Madrid as they want £78million for the Spaniard. Now, it looks as though United’s attentions could be focused elsewhere.
According to the usually reliable Italian, Gianluca Di Marzio (via journalist Tom McDermott), Manchester United could look at signing Torino’s Andrea Belotti instead, with the club willing to part with up to £70million to land the Italian striker.

The 23-year-old striker scored a mightily impressive 28 goals across all competitions last season, and that is for a side that struggled for the most part. Belotti was their shining light, and it’s pretty clear that the forward is immensely talented.
It seems that Manchester United are really going through their potential striker options at a rapid rate of knots. This comes after Antoine Griezmann decided to stay at Madrid, and now obviously we’re struggling to prise Morata away from Real. Also, it seems like Romelu Lukaku is dead-set on heading to Chelsea.
As a United fan, I’m concerned. All this dilly-dallying around doesn’t make us look great. If Mourinho wants Morata that badly just pay the £78million that Real are asking for. If Belotti is going to cost somewhere around the £70million mark anyway, why not just spend that extra bit of cash and get the preferred option.
