Manchester United told 24-year-old left-back will cost them £35million: report

Manchester United Football Club have been told they must spend £35million if they want solve their left-back issue and sign Philipp Max.

That’s according to Bild, per The Sun, who say that the Augsburg defender is being targeted by Jose Mourinho, in an area that has become a real problem position for the self-proclaimed Special One.

Max, 24, registered an impressive twelve assists in the Bundesliga last term; bettered only by Thomas Muller.

Luke Shaw, Matteo Darmian, Daley Blind and Ashley Young have all been tried in the position by Mourinho, and only the latter has succeeded. The former winger Young will be 33 when the season starts, ad he’s by no means the long-term solution.

Bringing in Max would be an astute signing. All the talk seems to be about Alex Sandro, but in my opinion, the German would be an even better option than the Juventus man.

It’d also signal a real attacking intent from Mourinho. Max excels when going forward and he absolutely loves bombing up and down that right-hand side. He’d be perfect for the modern-day game as he’s energetic and quick, and the £35million price-tag isn’t all that expensive all things considered…
