Manchester United told Kevin Strootman will cost £60million

Manchester United have been told that Kevin Strootman will cost them £60million if they want to sign him in the January transfer window, according to The Sunday Mirror. The AS Roma midfielder is reportedly at the top of Louis van Gaal’s transfer wish list, and would’ve certainly moved to Manchester United this sumer if he were free from injury.

Unfortunately the 24-year old’s injury concerns prevented any move happening, and Manchester United have been told they must pay premium fees due to the fact that the move could happen in the middle of the season. Undoubtedly, Roma wouldn’t want to lose their star man at such a critical point in the season, and would certainly prefer to hang on to their man until next summer at least.

The Sunday Mirror go on to say that Strootman himself has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford, and his willingness to switch Rome for Manchester could have a huge part to play in the deal going through, despite Roma being desperate to keep hold of their man.

Kevin Strootman [when fit] would be ideal for Manchester United. He doesn’t mind doing the dirty work, he puts in tackles for fun and covers every blade of grass on the football field.

The £60million fee sounds like Roma digging their heels in for as much money as possible, but I’d imagine he’d be available for somewhere closer to the £30-35million mark.
