Manchester United turned down Willian and Mesut Ozil

Reports have emerged that Manchester United turned down both Willian and Mesut Ozil this summer, the players ended up at Chelsea and Arsenal respectively. United’s poor summer continued right up to and included deadline day, when the Old Trafford club paid £4m extra for Marouane Fellaini when he was available for £23.5m earlier in the summer.

The Express claim that Willian and Mesut Ozil were offered to Manchester United by Anzhi and Real Madrid, and the latter was holding out for a move to United that never came before eventually signing for Arsenal. The majority of United fans were left disappointed when no attempt was made to sign Ozil, as many believe he has the creativity we lack.

Moyes believes that Shinji Kagawa and Wayne Rooney are more than capable of playing in behind the striker, so thats why no attempts were made for either player. If that were the case though, it does make you wonder why United spent two months of the window trying to sign Cesc Fabregas.

The club also failed with bids for Leighton Baines, Fabio Coentrao, Ander Herrera and Sami Khedira.
