Manchester United are a side still in transition, with Louis van Gaal’s future now up for debate. The club will be making big moves in the transfer window when it opens this coming summer, and Peter Schmeichel knows who he’d love the club to sign.
The Great Dane has urged Manchester United to break the bank for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is out-of-contract this summer.
When asked about the possibility of the Swede coming to United, he responded:
“I would absolutely love him to come to Manchester United. I have said for a long time that he is a guy that was born to play for Manchester United,” Schmeichel told Sky Sports News.
“Like a Cantona kind of player, someone that can inspire all the guys in the dressing room.
“More importantly, he can inspire the supporters. Every time he gets the ball, people will get excited and that’s what it’s all about.”
He’s right, too. There aren’t many footballers who can have that much of an impact on a team due to their influence, but Zlatan Ibrahimovic is certainly one of them.
His presence would just inspire the other players around him, and he carries an aura with him. In terms of goalscoring he has shown exactly what he can do this year despite being 34. In fifty appearances across all competitions, he has found the back of the net forty-eight times.
