Manchester United have looked extremely lacklustre up front in their four games so far this year, and that trend looks set to continue for as long as Wayne Rooney keeps on playing like he has aged about ten years over the summer.
Paul Scholes, a Manchester United legend has had his say on the matter, and he reckons United should try make a move for PSG’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a short-term fix.
“They’ve lost two top class centre forwards in Falcao and Van Persie. You wonder if they could take a chance on Zlatan Ibrahimovic for a year? Maybe [Ibrahimovic could] do something in the Robin van Persie mould.” Scholes said.
There is no doubting that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is an extremely talented individual, but he and Louis van Gaal simply don’t get on and never have done so I highly doubt this move would happen.
He’d also cost a lot and command huge wages, would this be a risk worth taking? Probably not, despite how attractive it may seem.
