Manchester United vs Tottenham: Preview, team news & score prediction

Manchester United Football Club has dropped points in their last two Premier League outings. It doesn’t get any easier for Jose Mourinho’s Red Devils. They play Tottenham Hotspur today.

United’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur will be streamed live via Sky Sports, coverage begins at 11:30.

Date: 28th October, 2017.
Kick-off time: 12:30 BST.
Referee: Jonathan Moss.

This game has the potential to determine who Manchester City’s main title rivals are. Up until a fortnight ago, it was looking wonderful for United. However, a draw away at Liverpool followed by a loss at Huddersfield has set Mourinho’s men back considerably.

Spurs visit the Theatre of Dreams, in a fixture that is a must-win despite it being so early on in the season. United need to go out there and send a message to the rest of the Premier League.

One criticism I’ve had of United under Mourinho is their lack of attacking ingenuity in the big games. At home, that simply has to change. Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be tough to beat, but United have the talent to take all three points.

Injury news

It seems as though United are always suffering horribly with players out injured. That’s no different. Mourinho will be without his midfield trio of Michael Carrick, Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini. On top of that, Marcos Rojo nor Zlatan Ibrahimovic are ready to return.

There was some good news, though. Phil Jones is ready to play, whereas Eric Bailly should be fit enough to make the bench at least.

For Spurs, they’ll be no Harry Kane, meaning Fernando Llorente will likely lead their line.

Predicted XI

De Gea; Valencia, Jones, Smalling, Young; Matic, Herrera; Lingard, Mkhitaryan, Rashford; Lukaku.

Score prediction

Manchester United 2-1 Tottenham.

It’s going to be a close game. We’re desperate for a victory, and I’m backing United to pull out a huge result. Mourinho will have his men fired up, and a Romelu Lukaku brace will be enough to seal all three points.
