Manchester United want to land world class midfielder as Man City also in hunt to sign him

Manchester United and Manchester City look set to go head-to-head once again, but this time off the field. The transfer window has only just shut, but the rumours are already up and running from the media of the world. Today, the Manchester Evening News have given us a big one.

The English publication say that Manchester United are set to reignite their interest in German midfield maestro Toni Kroos – who rejected a move to the Theatre of Dreams in favour of joining Real Madrid.

However, Jose Mourinho won’t be alone in pursuit of the 27-year-old, with Pep Guardiola and Manchester City also keen on one of the best midfield men in the world.

What a signing it would be if Jose Mourinho could pull this off, and it’d bring an increased level of calmness to the middle of the park that we’ve not seen since a prime Paul Scholes.

He really is the best controller of a game in the sport at this point in time, and the lack of minutes at the Santiago Bernabeu must be really frustrating for him.
