Manchester United will continue to spend big in January – report

Manchester United have spent heavily over the last two summers, as Louis van Gaal tries to mould his squad and bring players in that fit his philosophy, whilst clearing the dead wood out and freeing up some much-needed room in the wage bill.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Manchester United’s Vice-Chairman Edward Woodward has told a Fans Forum that ‘continue to look to strengthen the squad’, and will also ‘reward young talent’ with plenty of chances to impress.

Manchester United brought in big-money signings like Anthony Martial, Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin in the summer meaning there hasn’t really been many chances for the youngsters, but its great to see Woodward say that the young talents will get their minutes when necessary.

The January window is usually infamously tough to sign players in, and Manchester United will probably have to overpay if they want to bring in some of the world’s best mid-season.
