Manchester United have had a great start to life under Jose Mourinho, despite the fact that they currently sit sixth in the Premier League. The improvement has been there for all to see – and that is, in part, down to the signings made by the self-proclaimed Special One.
With the January window looming, one player that Manchester United will not be bidding for is SL Benfica centre-half, Victor Lindelof. The 22-year-old Swede has been linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams, but now the usually reliable BBC are reporting that a move will not be made in the mid-season transfer period.
The report says that the form of both Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo has convinced Jose Mourinho that he does not need to buy anyone else, and let’s not forget the club also have Eric Bailly, Daley Blind and Chris Smalling on their books in that position.
It would have been a bit of a risk to splurge £38millon on a centre-back, but if the deal was made you would have had to trust Mourinho wholeheartedly. He has spent our money extremely wisely so far, but if he feels he has enough quality defensively then so be it.
