Manchester United Football Club have found themselves involved in the papers regarding the sale of Ander Herrera this transfer window, with FC Barcelona reportedly interested in signing the Basque-born central midfielder.
Today, we’ve been given some fresh information on the saga. The Independent say that Herrera will not be moving to the Nou Camp this summer, but a bid of over £60million would tempt Jose Mourinho into parting with the 27-year-old; despite the fact that the club sees him as a future captain of the team.
Ernesto Valverde, the new Barca boss has spent a season in charge of Herrera during their time together at Bilbao, and although no official approach has been made, the interest is clear.
For me, the Red Devils simply have to reject any approach that they get for Herrera. This is a man who has rapidly become the heartbeat of our team, and his energy, work rate and passion rubs off on the rest of the side every single matchday.
It still pains me that Louis van Gaal used him rather sparingly during his tenure as United boss, and it felt like everyone knew just how good of a player Herrera was, except the man that mattered the most.
Anyway, it’s good that United are intent on keeping hold of Herrera for the time being at least.
