Since being appointed Manchester United manager in the summer, Jose Mourinho has been doing his utmost to get rid of those players who he sees as deadwood. One of those men is Bastian Schweinsteiger, who will exit Old Trafford despite a return to first-team training in recent weeks.
Now, it looks as though his move away is progressing rapidly – and his likely destination is the MLS. Reports say that the German has his sights set on a move to the Chicago Fire in particular.
His return to training is good for him, because it allows him to build up some crucial match fitness before making the switch when the January transfer window opens.
Schweinsteiger, who earns £200,000-a-week at Manchester United, hasn’t really made an impact at the Theatre of Dreams which is an absolutely massive shame.
There is no denying his talent, and you just have to admit that it hasn’t quite worked out for him here. Injuries haven’t helped either, and the lack of faith in him from Jose Mourinho was pretty much curtains on his career at the highest level.
