Manchester United Football Club are a side well and truly going through changes at the moment. That will take time, as Jose Mourinho looks to implement his ideas and tactics on a team that have struggled massively over the last three years.
One man who hasn’t really lived up to the hype since his arrival at the club is 22-year-old winger Memphis Depay, and now it looks as though he could well be on his way out in January if the right offer comes in.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton are firm favourites to land his signature when the window opens in a few weeks time, but they’ll face stiff competition from fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. The report adds that also Roma, Wolfsburg and Nice are tracking Memphis.
A move within the Premier League would probably make the most sense for Depay, especially with two huge sides like Everton and Spurs looking at him. The Echo believe that Koeman’s side are firm favourites at the moment, and they’d probably be the biggest guarantee of regular football for Depay, due to the injury suffered by Yannick Bolasie who plays in his position.
In my opinion, Depay has been nothing short of an absolute travesty at the Theatre of Dreams, and that is obviously hugely disappointing for everyone involved. It would make sense to let him leave Old Trafford either on a loan deal or permanently – purely to give him a fresh start elsewhere, even if it’s just for a few months.
