Manchester United have been very fortunate in the goalkeeping department over the past couple of years, and credit has to go the coaching staff who work so diligently with the shot-stoppers behind the scenes. Right now we have two more than adequate goalies; David de Gea and Sergio Romero.
With the summer transfer window looming, it’s inevitable that stories are going to surface. The latest whisper coming out of Italy, namely TuttoMercatoWeb, is suggesting that a pair of Chinese clubs are interested in the services of signing 30-year-old Romero.
The Argentine has been nothing short of a wonderful backup for the Red Devils ever since he was signed by Louis van Gaal almost two years ago now, and he has always served us well whenever called upon.
Jose Mourinho has put plenty of faith in him by making the Argentina #1 his Europa League goalkeeper, and some of the saves he has made this year have been truly out of this world.
However, he is still a backup and obviously, he will want more regular playing time. If these offers from the Chinese Super League do come to fruition, I wouldn’t blame him if he decided to move on. There would be a hefty wage packet on the table as well as the promise of playing in pretty much every fixture; that must be tempting.
