Manchester United’s 32-year-old forced to train with reserves ahead of likely exit

Manchester United made the move to bring in Bastian Schweinsteiger just twelve months ago, and despite so much promise, it has been a disappointing year for the German. Now it looks likely to get even worse as his exit from Old Trafford looks imminent.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the veteran has been made to train with Manchester United’s U23s, and even at one point last week was forced to train with a trialist.

It’s clear that Jose Mourinho doesn’t have a place for the 32-year-old in his current plans, with United having plenty of midfielders to choose from, as well as the likely arrival of Paul Pogba still to come.

Schweinsteiger going seems to be in the best interests of everyone involved which is extremely disappointing. He was one of my personal favourites when growing up, and to watch him don the United jersey was an absolute dream come true. Unfortunately, it just hasn’t worked out at all.
