Manchester United’s forgotten man closing in on first-team return

Manchester United have had a fantastic week, beating Northampton to progress in the cup and then backing that up with a stunning 4-1 victory at home to Leicester City. Now they are set to welcome another player back from an injury.

The Daily Mail say that Phil Jones is closing in on a first-team return after suffering ligament damage, which must be a huge relief to Jose Mourinho, who is yet to see the 24-year-old in action.

United’s defender hasn’t featured for the first-team since January due to a whole host of injuries, but Jose clearly has faith in him after giving the centre-back a spot in his 25-man Premier League squad.

The next few months are absolutely huge for the man once touted as the next Duncan Edwards, and this season certainly feels like make or break for him.

Hopefully, he can get over this injury and come back stronger. Then really kick on and cement a place in the starting line-up for the rest of the season.
