Manchester United made a bold move to bring Memphis Depay in over the summer, whilst letting another Dutchman in the form of Robin van Persie leave. The reasoning behind that could have just been unveiled, if the latest reports coming out of Voetbal Int are anything to go by…
They say that during the last international break, Memphis Depay and Robin van Persie had a massive falling out.
After not passing to Van Persie, RvP asked Memphis “Do you think you’re a big boy?” – Memphis replied “Do big boys play for Fenerbahce?”
Shortly after the clash, the Holland coach Danny Blind looked at Robin van Persie and said: “You again?”
Robin van Persie has always had that short fuse, and he never backed down from an argument on the field. Depay certainly seems to be going the same way, and when two big personalities clash, this is what tends to happen.
If true, it is quite sad. They looked like great mates during their time together at the 2014 World Cup, and hopefully they can patch this up soon so it doesn’t affect the Holland national side.
