Manchester United’s Callum Gribbin has certainly been making a name for himself over the last eighteen months or so, as the midfielder has seemingly become our best asset in the youth setup largely thanks to his fantastic set-piece ability.
The English midfielder is clearly admired by fellow clubs, too. It wasn’t that long ago when Liverpool were sniffing around Gribbin, and now, according to the Sunday People, Manchester City offered the 17-year old a huge £11,000-a-week to switch red for blue over the summer.
Fortunately United officials (including Ryan Giggs) managed to persuade Gribbin to stay at Old Trafford and rejected the offer from the Citizens.
This shows just how highly thought of Gribbin is, and lets not forget he is just 17. Who knows, we could well see him on pre-season tour next summer, and he could even get his chance in the domestic cup competitions either this year or next. Louis van Gaal clearly isn’t afraid to put faith in youth, as Axel Tuanzebe (also 17) was included in the match day squad for the Crystal Palace game.
