Any potential Manchester United move for Lucas Moura has hit a stumbling block, with Jose Mourinho only wanting to take the Brazilian winger on loan, per ESPN.
The Ligue 1 giants would prefer to sell Moura rather than loaning him, as they clearly wish to get the 25-year-old off their books completely. However United, along with Nantes and Betis, have only made loan offers for Lucas – who has been largely on the fringes since the big-money arrivals of both Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
Personally, I like Lucas and I think he’d be an astute piece of business, but it all depends on how much PSG are demanding to let him leave.
If no firm transfer offers come in for him, then their hand could well be forced and they may have to let him go on a short-term deal with the option to buy.
What I love about the propsect of a loan situation is that it’s a no-lose situation. If Mourinho could pull this move off in January, it’d give the Red Devils manager a solid four months to look at Lucas before pulling the trigger on a permanent basis.
