Manchester United’s versatile star thanks fans for standing ovation

Manchester United kicked off 2016 in great style, securing a 2-1 victory over our bogey side Swansea City. Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial ensured the win with two great goals, but the unsung hero on the day was Ashley Young who had a blinder.

The 31-year old unfortunately had to be subbed due to injury, but as he went off, the Stretford End gave him a standing ovation which he more than deserved.

“They’re brilliant and it was nice to get a standing ovation. Hopefully I can keep putting in the performances and they can keep singing.” Young said.

The English winger just loves football and playing the game. That was epitomised when he was spotted in the away end mixing in with all the Manchester United fans, and stuff like that just further endears him to the Old Trafford crowd.

Young is a proper Louis van Gaal player. He offers versatility, pace on the counter and a great intelligence when on the ball. Hopefully he can go on a good run of games and really cement that spot down, similarly to how he did last term.
