Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney full of praise for defender

Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney was on ITV’s panel for England’s 2-1 defeat at home to Holland last night, and although he wasn’t on the pitch, he was full of praise for a certain Manchester United teammate who was; Daley Blind.

When asked about Daley Blind, Wayne Rooney replied: “He’s excellent with the ball and he’s a very good reader of the game.”

“He will be the first to tell you he’s not the quickest but his reading of the game makes up for that.”

Like Wayne Rooney says, Daley Blind isn’t the fastest in the game, but his footballing brain is right up there with the best in the world. He reads the game superbly, is excellent with the ball at his feet and his positioning in terms of a defensive point of view is absolutely outstanding.

Thats exactly why Blind found the transition to centre-back so easy, and now he is playing there at international level as well as at Manchester United.
