Manchester United Football Club have been playing some wonderful stuff of late, with Jose Mourinho seemingly finding a winning formula. The squad he has available at his disposal is obviously ridden with talent and options, meaning he can chop and change players to suit different games.
One man who has drifted in and out of proceedings is young Marcus Rashford, who to his credit, has waited patiently for his opportunities and often taken his chance when it is given to him.
There is a lot of stuff that goes on behind the scenes, and he’ll obviously be looking to grow and improve as a player every day.
Speaking at a Nike event on Sky Sports, Marcus Rashford had his say on Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has helped him out massively since his arrival.
“For the young players to see his character and the way he approaches every game is invaluable,” Sky Sports quote the young striker as saying. “Some players can’t bring that when they move clubs.
“We have to try to learn from him while he is here and take what we can from his game.”
He was then asked about other players who help him out a lot behind the scenes, and he also had a good word to say about the current Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney.
“Zlatan and Rooney are the two that stand out,” he said.
“I grew up watching Rooney play week in, week out at Old Trafford, so those are the two that you look at and try to emulate.”
Stuff like this really is great to hear. Marcus Rashford really burst onto the scene around twelve months ago now, and has obviously had a massive impact on the fans at the Theatre of Dreams.
We forget that he is still young and learning, and to have two greats of the game like Rooney and Ibrahimovic to learn from is just a dream scenario for the young man from Wythenshawe.
As he says, he has to take everything he can from these guys whilst they are still playing – particularly with Zlatan Ibrahimovic who is obviously approaching the latter stages of his career at thirty-five.
