Marko Arnautovic responds to reported Man United interest from Jose Mourinho

Manchester United Football Club need to have a huge summer in the transfer market, as Jose Mourinho continues to mould his squad into one that could challenge for the Premier League title.

One player that the self-proclaimed Special One is reportedly interested in is Marko Arnautovic. Mourinho was seen spotted keeping an eye on the West Ham attacker as his native Austria took on Russia in a pre-World Cup friendly match.

Now, the 29-year-old has responded to being ‘watched’ by Mourinho, admitting his delight at learning the Portuguese coach was an onlooker.

“It is a great honour for our entire team that a coach like Mourinho is watching us,” he told Austrian newspaper Kurier, per the Daily Express.

Arnautovic had an excellent end to the season with West Ham under David Moyes. United’s attack has been struggling. Putting two-and-two together, this would be a typical Mourinho signing.

Our manager loves the experienced, ready-made player, with the Austria man fitting that bill perfectly; plus he’s got Premier League experience aplenty.

Honestly, I wouldn’t be wholly against the idea of signing Arnautovic as a short-term fix. There is certainly a spot up for grabs on the right-wing for a season or two; but it’d probably mean losing one of Anthony Martial or Marcus Rashford…
