Marouane Fellaini reacts to signing new Manchester United contract, thanks Mourinho

Earlier today, the news broke that Marouane Fellaini had signed a new two-year deal at Manchester United.

The 30-year-old had been in the midst of a transfer saga that rumbled on for months, with the Red Devils looking likely to lose the midfielder on a free contract.

Now, though, the club and player have come to a mutual agreement. No doubt Jose Mourinho will be happy, with the self-proclaimed Special One obviously a huge fan of the former Everton man.

In what has undoubtedly been a tough period for Fellaini, as he wouldn’t have known where his future lies, it must be a real weight off his shoulders. Shortly after the move was confirmed, he took to Twitter to express his delight at remaining in Manchester. Understandably, there was huge praise for the gaffer.

This is obviously a message from the heart. At the end of the day, this is his job. Fellaini would be absolutely absurd if he didn’t get the best financial package for himself, that’s just part and parcel of the game.

Unfortunately, it just comes off in a negative light because he isn’t the moved loved player within United’s fan-base. I can 100% guarantee the story would be completely different if this were Anthony Martial trying to get himself more money.
