Mason Greenwood reveals the area he feels he can improve on as a player

Manchester United have always believed in youth. This season, a certain 18-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign. Though Mason Greenwood is still looking to improve further.

He’s now preparing for an all-important Europa League quarter-final against Copenhagen, a competition in which he watched (and celebrated) from home as the Reds lifted the trophy in 2017. Greenwood is now looking to scoop the honour as a player.

United are now three wins away from doing just that, with Greenwood in the form of his life right now. No doubt we’ll see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer utilise the star teenager a fair bit over these next few games (provided we make it that far).

Anyway, ahead of the fixture tonight, Greenwood conducted an interview with UEFA – and it’s a cracker. Amongst the topic of debates was the one area in which the Englishman thinks he can improve on.

When asked where in his game Greenwood can get better, he responded:

“I think in headed goals. I’ve not scored a headed goal in the first team this season. It would be nice to get one of them before the Europa League finishes.” Greenwood responded when asked the question in an interview with UEFA.

That’s probably fair, though I understand why we’ve seen so little of him in a heading capacity. He’s always played out wide for the senior team and rarely had the chance to get in the box. Look at all his goals, they’re all cutting inside from outside the 18-yard marker.

Will Greenwood eventually play through the middle?

I guess that’s the burning question. Right now, Anthony Martial is also in the form of his life. Displacing him from that central role certainly isn’t going to be easy.

Though in Greenwood, we’re talking about a generational talent. I can’t remember the last time a teenager scooped our Player of the Month award and he’s only going to get better still.

Perhaps in a couple of years we’ll see Greenwood play more centrally, but for now, let’s just enjoy watching this boy develop and grow.

Do you think Mason Greenwood can improve on his heading while playing out wide? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
