Mason Greenwood signs new Man United contract until 2023

Earlier in the week, Brandon Williams put pen to paper on a new Manchester United contract. Today, another academy graduate has signed on the dotted line. This time around, it’s Mason Greenwood’s turn.

The mega-talented 18-year-old has signed a new deal that’ll keep him at Old Trafford until at least 2023, with the Reds having the option to extend that by a further year. The club confirmed the news earlier today via their official website.

Greenwood’s future is now secure and it allows the young man to play without that pressure on his shoulders. Now, it’s about developing and growing as a footballer and forcing his way into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI on a regular basis.

Here is Greenwood all-smiles after putting pen to paper:

After becoming United’s youngest ever starter in the Premier League on last season’s final day, Greenwood’s stock has only continued to rise. He was brilliant on pre-season tour and backed that up with two goals in two starts against Astana and Rochdale respectively.

With Marcus Rashford struggling in front of goal, many have hinted that it could well be Greenwood’s chance to get a regular run in the side. Will that chance present itself against Liverpool? I’m not so sure.

For now, though, this is a huge confidence-booster for the young man.

Congratulations, Mason!
