Manchester United could seal qualification through to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League tonight, but only if they can secure all three points away at the BayArena. The last time these two sides met United ran out comfortable 4-2 winners, but this time i’m pretty sure the game will be much closer.
David Moyes’ side are now unbeaten in ten after the 2-2 draw away at Cardiff which is excellent to see. However progress in the Champions League is a bit up in the air at the moment, due to a sloppy 0-0 draw away at Sociedad in the last round of fixtures.

United’s squad is still hit by injuries, and the boss has already confirmed that Robin van Persie and Nemanja Vidic both haven’t travelled due to a groin problem and concussion concerns respectively. David Moyes will also be without Michael Carrick, who is a long-term injury with a calf/shin issue. Shinji Kagawa is also a doubt, as he returned back from international duty with a foot problem. There is some good news though, as both Phil Jones and Rafael da Silva trained with the first-team this week and they could both be in line for a return.
The hosts currently have an almost fully fit squad to choose from, and their only injury doubt is Sidney Sam who may miss the game with a knock.
Leverkusen are unbeaten at home since March so todays game will certainly be a struggle, especially when you consider that our midfield looks so weak on paper with all the injuries and suspensions. I’d take a point if you offered it to me now.
Score prediction: Leverkusen 1-1 United
