Match Preview: Man United vs Leeds United (tour 2019)

Manchester United kicked off their pre-season tour with a nice 2-0 victory against Perth Glory, but next up is a game against the old enemy, Leeds United.

We spoke to Leeds United site, The Scratching Shed, for our A View From The Enemy series here. Anyway, let’s get right into the match preview itself, starting with the all-important kick-off times and TV channel…

Kick-off time: 12:30pm (UK), Wednesday 17th July.
Stadium: Optus Stadium.
TV channel: MUTV.

These games are always met with excitement. Although there’s literally nothing to play for but pride, it’ll be a fierce battle between two teams who truly hate each other. This time around, they’ll be that little extra spice due to Leeds United’s failed attempt at signing Daniel James in January. Obviously, he’s now a Red Devil.

Team News

No new United signings have been made since the game against Perth Glory, while Fred, Matteo Darmian and Dean Henderson remain at home (although they’re expected to join the tour at a later date), so for Solskjaer it’s more of the same players.

I expect we’ll see a heavy dose of the aforementioned James and fellow new boy Aaron Wan-Bissaka, while we’ll all love to get another look at Mason Greenwood, Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes.

Check out our full predicted line-up for the match here.

Match Betting:

Again, pre-season friendlies isn’t something we usually like betting on but as you can imagine, the Red Devils are the bookie’s favourites for this one…

Match Prediction: Manchester United 3-1 Leeds United.

We’ll go for another United win with Daniel James getting himself on the score-sheet. Expect the tackles to fly in while they’ll be no love lost in what will be a fun game to watch.
