Match Preview: Manchester United vs Arsenal – team news, betting odds & prediction

Manchester United host Arsenal at Old Trafford this evening, as the fixtures start to pile up around the hectic winter period. Jose Mourinho’s men are mightily desperate for a victory that’ll drag them back into the hunt for a place in the top four. Lose, though, and we could already be out of reach. We’re in December. That’s just not an option.

Kick-off time: 20:00 GMT
Venue: Old Trafford
TV Channel: BT Sport
Referee: Andre Marriner

Games against Arsenal are always intriguing. This one will be no different. Mourinho will have the boys pumped up and ready to go in what will be a highly-contested affair. Both sides have fallen from grace over the last half-decade, but these games are always ones to look forward towards. What better way than to drag yourselves back into the Champions League race with a victory over your old rivals?

Team News

Mourinho was tight-lipped in regards to team news during his press conference. The Red Devils only had one fit centre-back against Southampton at the weekend, but if you believe recent reports, both Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling have pulled through and are with the squad. As for the fitness of Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford, who knows?

Arsenal have a massive injury problem on their hands, too. Ex-Red Danny Welbeck is out for the foreseeable, while there is a doubt about Mesut Ozil’s fitness at present, too…

Betting odds

Despite recent poor form, Manchester United are still favourites to defend their territory and scoop all three points at Old Trafford. Bet on the home side to win with 138.com at 6/4.

Both sides have been struggling with defending of late, so if you want great value, bet on Both Teams to Score at 1/2.

Fresh off a rest at the weekend, Anthony Martial will be feeling fresh and ready to roll. Bet on Martial to score anytime at 7/4.

Match Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Arsenal

For whatever reason, I’m feeling confident this morning. It’s either out of blind faith or down to the fact that I still feel we have the better squad. Arsenal’s defence has been just as bad as ours recently, and I’m tipping birthday boy Anthony Martial to have a field day and score a brace to give United a huge three points.
