Match Preview: Manchester United vs Liverpool

Manchester United play host to fierce rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford this afternoon, with much more than three points on the line. For me this is the best fixture of the season, and its always a feisty affair when these two sides collide whatever the occasion. It’ll be the first taste of this fixture for Louis van Gaal competitively, and he’ll be looking for a big win.

A victory would take our current streak to six wins in a row, and it’d further consolidate our grip on a spot in the top four whilst putting a dent in Liverpool’s hopes of returning to the Champions League next season.

Injury News

Manchester United’s current injuries seem to be easing up somewhat, with Louis van Gaal only having four players unavailable for the game today. Daley Blind misses out, as does Chris Smalling who picked up an injury against Southampton. Luke Shaw still isn’t ready to return, whereas this game came just too soon for Angel di Maria.

See our predicted line-up for the game here.

Last Meeting: United 0-3 Liverpool.

A Luis Suarez masterclass coupled with David Moyes as manager was always going to be a recipe for disaster. United will be looking to avenge that result today.

Score Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Liverpool.

We owe Liverpool a beating, but these kind of games always tend to be tight. Any type of win will do me because at the end of the day three points are three points. Rooney and Van Persie to get one each, and Gerrard to grab a consolation for the scousers.
