United face the former Wimbledon men in the 2nd round of the Capital One Cup. This is the first time United have been in the 2nd round of the Capital One Cup since 1995 where they faced third tier side York City. Let’s hope that the result is better this time round rather than then as York City beat the reds 3-0 at Old Trafford in the first leg.
Louis Van Gaal states that a win against MK Dons would be a huge boost. The squad certainly needs a morale boost of some description after a fairly poor performance against Sunderland. The reds looked to have ran out of ideas very early in the match which isn’t suprising considering the team they had out. But, to be honest it was the best team they could put out due to the long line of injuries which left the squad depleted. However, with the hopeful addition of Angel Di Maria, Marcos Rojo and a couple more possible signings should help with the depth of the squad.
KO: 19:45 BST
Venue: Stadium MK
Date: 26th August 2014
New signing Angel Di Maria won’t feature, neither will Marcos Rojo as he still hasn’t been granted a work permit. The squad is still ridiculously injury-hit, with Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Chris Smalling, Marouane Fellaini and Jesse Lingard all expected to miss out with injury.
Score prediction: MK Dons 0-3 Manchester United
Despite an inexperienced side going up against the MK Dons, Manchester United should have more than enough firepower to overcome the League One side.
