MATCH PREVIEW: Sunderland vs United

United can further extend their grip on title number 20 by overcoming a struggling Sunderland side today, if we win the gap at the top will be a massive eighteen points albeit only for a few hours. The boys will need no motivation for this one and I’m sure Fergie will remind them of what Black Cats fans did last season.

With the FA Cup quarter-final replay taking place on Monday, its hard to predict what team the boss will pick for this one, but nevertheless we had a go and you can see it here.

Team News

United go into this one with almost a full squad to choose from after the news that Scholes, Evans and Nani all returned to first-team training this week. The only absentee is Darren Fletcher.

Sunderland on the other hand are missing a few key players, both top scorer Steven Fletcher and club captain Lee Cattermole have been ruled out for the season, whereas former United player Wes Brown misses out with a long-term knee problem.

Form Guide

There is also a massive contrast in current form, Sunderland haven’t won in their last six league games (4 losses, 2 draws), whereas United have taken maximum points from their last six, we haven’t lost a league game since losing away to Norwich back in November.

Remarkably, if United can somehow win their remaining 9 games the 100-point barrier would be broken. The current record is held by Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side who amassed a points total of 95, 7 wins from here on out would see us match that.

Match Betting

Sunderland 5/1

Draw 14/5

United 4/7

Our tip: Javier Hernandez to score first @ 100/30.

Both sides will be up for this one, Sunderland are slowly being dragged into a relegation dogfight and currently sit four points above it. On the other hand the title is almost won, and a win here would surely end what little hope City have left?
