Match Preview: United vs Newcastle

David Moyes will be beginning to feel the heat after losing 1-0 to his old side Everton midweek, but in football there is always a chance to redeem yourself. Today Newcastle United head to Old Trafford, and Manchester United simply must win this game today, its as simple as that.

Newcastle sit two places and one point above Moyes’ men at the moment, so a win today could see us leapfrog the Mappies, and depending on other results we could move up to sixth place.

KO: 12:45
Venue: Old Trafford
Date: 7th December 2013

Wayne Rooney is suspended for this one due to accumulating five bookings over the course of the season, although Phil Jones will return after missing the Everton game due to the same thing. Robin van Persie is still a doubt with a groin/pelvis injury, and Shinji Kagawa is another doubt after being taken ill midweek. Michael Carrick is still sidelined.

Our visitors have an almost fully fit squad to choose from according to their boss Alan Pardew. Hatem ben Arfa was a minor doubt due to an illness, Papiss Cisse has missed the last few games with a foot problem but he could also return. Ryan Taylor is sidelined long-term after tearing an ACL in his knee.

See our predicted United line-up here.

As I mentioned earlier, we need to win today no matter what. Our task has been made considerably harder due to the fact that Wayne Rooney is unavailable, and the dynamic duo of Shinji Kagawa and Robin van Persie are also major doubts.

Match Prediction: United 2-0 Newcastle

We need to step up to the plate today, and hopefully Phil Jones’ return will add a bit of solidity to midfield and we can control the game. I fancy Nani to score a screamer today.
