Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian could move to Juventus, after his agent met the Serie A sides’ sporting director.
That’s according to Sky Sources, who say that talks between the parties are ongoing, with Fabio Paratici (agent) at the heart of the discussions.
The 28-year-old was signed by Louis van Gaal in the summer of 2015, and after an excellent start, it looked as though we’d solved our right-back problems.
However, after getting absolutely terrorised by Alexis Sanchez in a clash against Arsenal, things went rapidly downhill. In 2017/18, the Italian made just seventeen appearances across all competitions, and it seems as though the writing is on the wall for the right-back.
Sometimes, there are transfers that make sense for all involved parties; this is one of those instances. Darmian will be moving back to his homeland, Juve are getting an excellent player while United will be recouping some of the £12million that they spent to sign him.
It’s a shame that it hasn’t worked out as he’s obviously an excellent player. I guess that his style just isn’t suited to the fast-paced Premier League (largely due to his lack of pace). Darmian’s game is much more suited to the Serie A, and no doubt he’ll flourish there.
